A keyword so impactful it spawned its own archetype, infect has proven itself to be too good to be revisited as we return to Phyrexia with All Will Be One. The new keyword, toxic, is a true testament to the power of infect, as R&D obviously didn’t feel comfortable loosing more infect creatures on the world, so we got toxic instead. As infect creatures essentially have double power and are disproportionately boosted by pump spells, infect was a real force to be reckoned with in Modern for awhile there, although it has since fallen out of favor. Still, with poison counters front and center once again, it’s a good time to look back and remember how terrifying a turn-one Glistener Elf could be.
