Phyrexians have once again taken center stage with the upcoming release of All Will Be One. The Phyrexians are amongst the oldest villains in Magic’s history, but it’s only recently they were granted their own distinct creature type. Old creatures were updated with errata to become Phyrexians, joining with the newly-printed ones, and altogether there are almost 400 of them – from Activated Sleeper to Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus. But which are the best? Plenty of Phyrexians have seen a lot of high-level competitive play, and many others are EDH staples. Let’s see if we can narrow it down to the ten best Phyrexians ever printed!
- Phyrexian Obliterator
Phyrexian Obliterator is a ton of fun to play with. It’s exciting to see it return to Standard with All Will Be One, and I personally am looking forward to seeing players unfamiliar with the card learning some very sharp and unforgettable lessons on how best to deal with this monstrous threat. We’ve all been there – trying to block or burn out an Obliterator to get it off the table, only to have the card live up to its name and obliterate all your permanents. Remember to pack unconditional removal spells that don’t rely on dealing damage!
