I’m one of those who is absolutely fascinated whenever an artist shares work-in-progress details. I love seeing how art comes together, from conceptual sketches to the finished work. Modern Horizons 2 scratched that itch for me, showing card artwork in various stages of completion — from the rough linework of Iain McCaig’s Dress Down to the monochrome beauty of Martina Pilcerova’s Thought Monitor right through to the in-progress colors of Micah Epstein’s Garth One-Eye. I also really like how the frame itself is only sketched out, and it was a masterful touch to include art direction notes as flavor text.
